Half pint tankards will carry a third of a pint measure as well on the half pint marker. This is a perfectly legal measure, and was once common in British pubs, being known as, among other things, a gill or a nip. (Who remembers the 1/3 pint milk bottles served up to generations of school children?)
In accordance with CAMRA's 'Sensible Drinking' policy we don't want to encourage immoderate or excessive consumption of alcohol.
With a measure of this capacity you can drink more modest amounts of our stronger offerings. Remember: some are as much as 8.5% alcohol (or more!), which is as strong as some wine, and you wouldn't drink this by the pint - or would you?
You will also be able to taste a greater variety of our offerings without going over your capacity. If drinking half pints you can only try 6 beers without consuming more than 3 pints. With a third of a pint measure being available this is increased to 9 beers without even having to swap or share drinks!
