Staffing

We require helpers from Friday 15th January to Monday 25th January. The major work will take place from Saturday 16th to Sunday 24th.

If you can help in any way please volunteer. Even helping for 1 hour could mean someone getting a decent lunch break.

If you are not sure whether your skills will be needed contact the Staffing Officer or Festival Organiser and enquire.

Work involved

Setting up - Saturday 16th through to Tuesday 19th

This is when the major engineering occurs: scaffolding for the casks is erected, casks are loaded onto the scaffolding, the bar is built and all major equipment is installed and commissioned.

Wednesday 20th

9am to 12pm - The Champion Winter Beer of Britain will be judge. In order to do this professionaly we require a team of waiters/waitresses to server the beers.

Meanwhile in the rest of the festival we have to make everything look presentable for the Trade Session. Posters are put up and banners are erected. Bars are polished and products displayed.

12 noon - The Doors open - but only to invited Trade Representatives. If you are working this session please arrive early so that you are already at your post when the doors open.

4:30pm The countdown begins - doors open in half an hour so all bars need manning with serving staff; glasses need to be prepared; entrance hall, cloakroom, stalls etcetera need attendants standing by.

5:00pm - The doors open to the public, or at least they will if we have staff! Please arrive early so that you are already at your post when the doors open. It saves the undignified rush to beat the customers to your post!

Thursday 21st - Saturday 23rd

The Festival is in full swing so all departments need staffing.
If you are working from the session's opening time can you please try and turn up early so that you are already in post when the doors open.

Please, please, please will all other staff try to turn up on time, we may be relying on you so that another member of staff can leave and visit their gran, mum in hospital, wife(!) or any other deserving cause.

Sunday 24th - Knock down

All the equipment has to be dismantled and packed away on a lorry. Casks have to be readied for collection. Posters, banners etcetera need to be removed and the building made ready for return to the Venue management on Monday morning.

Monday 25th - Despatch of materials

We require somebody to supervise the breweries collecting their cask. There are also other collections which need supervision/assisting.
